How to use
- Click “Choose file” or drag in your video (MOV, MKV, WebM, MP4 and more).
- Choose an MP3 bitrate: 128, 192 (default) or 320 kbps.
- Press Start, then click Download to save the extracted audio as MP3.
Pull the sound out of almost any video file – MOV, MKV, WebM, MP4 and more – and save it as an MP3. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Accepts MOV from iPhone, MKV, WebM, MP4 and most other videos your browser can read. The picture is dropped and only the sound is kept.
Ideal for turning lectures, interviews, webinars and screen recordings into MP3 you can listen to or edit as a podcast or voice-over.
The audio is extracted on your own device. Your video is never uploaded, which matters for meetings and confidential recordings.
If a video has no sound track, you get a clear “no sound” message instead of an empty MP3 file.
This video to MP3 converter lets you extract audio from video files in almost any format and save the sound as an MP3. It is built for real-life recordings: a lecture you filmed on your phone, an online meeting saved as MKV or WebM, an iPhone clip in MOV format, or a video interview you want to edit as a podcast. Everything runs in your browser on your own device. Your video is never uploaded, so you can safely use it for private or confidential material.
If you only work with MP4 files, our dedicated MP4 to MP3 converter does the same job. This page is the all-rounder: it accepts MOV, MKV, WebM, MP4 and most other videos your browser can read.
Want to do another one? Press Convert another file. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, so you can convert video to MP3 as often as you like.
Videos recorded on an iPhone are usually MOV files, often using the HEVC format. Open this page in Safari or Chrome, tap Choose file and pick the video from Photos or the Files app. When the conversion is done, the MP3 is saved to your downloads, where you can share it or open it in another app.
On Android, use Chrome. Tap Choose file, select the video from your gallery and press Start. As the work happens on the phone, speed depends on how powerful it is. Very large files (roughly over 1.5 GB) may be slow or fail on phones because the whole video is processed in memory; for those, a laptop works better.
Because the picture is removed, the MP3 is usually much smaller than the original video, which makes it easier to send by email or chat and to store.
Both tools produce the same kind of MP3. The difference is what goes in: the MP4 page is focused on MP4 files, while this video to MP3 converter is the one to use when you are not sure of the format, or when your file is a MOV, MKV or WebM. If your browser can play the video, there is a good chance this page can extract its sound.
| Recording type | Suggested bitrate |
|---|---|
| Lecture, meeting, interview, voice memo | 128 kbps |
| Podcast with intro music, mixed content | 192 kbps |
| Music performance, high-quality recording | 320 kbps |
A higher bitrate cannot add quality the video did not have. If the sound in your video is already compressed or recorded on a basic microphone, 320 kbps only makes a bigger file. Pick the setting that matches the source.
Most online tools ask you to upload your video and wait for a server to process it. That is slow for big files and uncomfortable for private ones. VidHaul works differently: modern browser video technology does the conversion directly on your phone or computer. Nothing is sent anywhere, so a confidential meeting recording stays on your device.
It works in up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on computers, and in Chrome or Safari on phones. Very old browsers cannot run it, and the page shows a message if yours is one of them.
Not every video has a sound track. Screen recordings made with the microphone switched off and some exported clips contain only pictures. If that is the case, the tool shows a clear “no sound” message rather than giving you a silent MP3. Play the video first if you are unsure.
Need only a part of the recording? Open the MP3 in the MP3 cutter to trim it, for example to keep one answer from an interview. To shorten the video itself, use thevideo cutter. If an iPhone video will not play on your Windows PC, convert it withMOV to MP4, and to share the full video in a smaller size, try thevideo compressor.
Please only extract audio from videos you own or have the right to use.

Yes. The tool is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark and has no daily limit.
Some videos, such as screen recordings made with the microphone off, contain no audio track. In that case there is nothing to extract, so the tool shows a clear message instead of an empty file.
For speech, 128 kbps keeps the voice clear and the file small. Use 192 kbps or 320 kbps if the recording includes music you want to keep in better quality.
No. This tool works with video files already on your device. Choose a file you recorded or saved, and the audio is extracted locally in your browser.
