Convert PNG to JPG Online - Free PNG to JPG Converter, High Quality

Change PNG to JPG in your browser: drop up to 30 images and download light JPG files. Nothing is uploaded.

This page lets you convert PNG to JPG online for free, right in your browser. PNG is a lossless format: it stores every pixel exactly, which is perfect for logos and icons but makes photos and long screenshots very heavy. Many job portals, exam forms, print shops and older apps also accept only JPG or JPEG. A PNG to JPG converter fixes both problems: the file gets much smaller and opens everywhere. You can change PNG to JPG one by one or as a batch of 30, keep the quality high, and download everything in one ZIP. Below we explain exactly what the converter does to your pixels, show real sizes from our own test, and tell you honestly when converting PNG to JPG is a bad idea, so you can decide before you download.

How does the PNG to JPG converter work?

Your browser opens the PNG and turns it into plain pixels. The tool then makes a canvas of exactly the same width and height, fills it with white, draws your picture on top and asks the browser’s built-in JPEG encoder to save it at the quality you set (92% unless you change it). The white fill is the important step: JPG has no transparency, so every transparent or half-transparent pixel is mixed with white instead of turning black.

Quality is a number from 50% to 100%. Lower numbers let the JPEG encoder throw away more fine detail it thinks you won’t notice, which makes the file smaller. Nothing else changes: the pixel size stays the same, and the file name stays the same with a new ending, so screenshot.png becomes screenshot.jpg.

Worked example (measured). On 3 November 2026 in Chrome on a Windows PC we took a 2000×3000 test picture. Saved as PNG by our converter it weighed 3.83 MB. The same pixels saved as JPG weighed 508 KB at 92%, 312 KB at 80% and 186 KB at 50%. So at the default setting the JPG was about 7.5 times smaller than the PNG, with the same width and height.

How to use

  1. Add your PNG files

Drop, choose or paste (Ctrl+V) PNG images into the box. Up to 30 at once; use Add more for extra files.

  2. Check the quality

JPG is already selected at 92% quality. To change it, open More options and move the Quality slider; the list updates by itself.

  3. Download the JPGs

Click Download next to each image, or Download all (ZIP) for two or more. Copy summary copies the before and after sizes.

Why VidHaul

Photos shrink a lot

In our test the same 2000×3000 picture was 3.83 MB as PNG and 508 KB as JPG at 92%. Screenshots and exported photos get much lighter.

Clean white background

JPG can’t store transparency, so the tool paints a white background first. Transparent corners come out pure white, not black or grey.

Quality you can see

The Quality slider runs from 50% to 100% (default 92%). Every row shows the size before and after, so you can compare in seconds.

No upload, no watermark

The conversion runs on your own phone or computer. No sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit, and your screenshots stay private.

Measured in our own Chrome test with the converter’s settings. The test picture is a generated image with smooth colour bands and shapes, not a camera photo, so your own files will give different numbers, but the pattern is the same: photos get far smaller as JPG.

Change PNG to JPG: when it helps and when it doesn’t

Converting is not always a win. The kind of picture inside the PNG decides the result. Use this table before you change PNG to JPG:

What happens to different kinds of PNG. Sizes are from our own Chrome tests.
Your PNG isResult as JPGOur advice
A photo or a picture with many coloursMuch smaller (3.83 MB to 508 KB in our test)Convert, this is the best use
A phone or PC screenshotSmaller; small text stays readable at 85% to 92%Convert, keep quality high
A logo with a transparent backgroundBackground turns white; 4.5 KB became 17.3 KBKeep PNG, or use PNG to WebP
A simple icon, chart or diagram with flat coloursOften bigger, edges can look slightly softUsually better left as PNG

The rule of thumb: if the picture looks like a photo, JPG is the right format. If it looks like a drawing made of a few solid colours, PNG is already the better choice.

How to convert PNG to JPG in high quality

People often search for “PNG to JPG high quality” or even “in 4K quality”. Two separate things matter here: the pixel size and the JPG quality.

  • Pixel size is never reduced. The converter keeps the exact width and height. A 3840×2160 screenshot stays 3840×2160 as JPG.
  • JPG quality is your choice. Open More options and move the Quality slider. 92% (the default) looks the same as the PNG for photos. 95% to 100% is for images you will edit or print again; the file grows quickly at the top end.
  • Text needs more care. Screenshots with small text show faint marks around letters at low quality. Stay at 85% or higher for documents, chats and receipts.

JPG is always lossy, so “without losing quality” means “without a loss you can see”, not a pixel-perfect copy. If you truly need every pixel, keep the PNG.

50%186 KBOnly when size matters more than looks

PNG to JPG under 50 KB or 100 KB

Forms often say “JPG only, maximum 50 KB”. The Quality slider alone can’t promise a size, because the result depends on the picture. The fastest route is two steps: convert the PNG to JPG here, then open the compress image to 50 KB tool (or 100 KB). The compressor accepts PNG too, so you can also drop the PNG straight into it: it always saves JPG (or WebP), searches for the highest quality between 50% and 92% that fits and only reduces the pixel size if it must. If the form also asks for a fixed width and height, set those first with the image resizer.

How to convert PNG to JPG on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android

Windows

Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox and drag the PNG files from File Explorer into the box. You can also press Print Screen or Win+Shift+S to take a screenshot and paste it here with Ctrl+V; it is converted at once. Paint can also save as JPG, but only one file at a time.

Mac

Drag the files from Finder into the box in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. Screenshots on a Mac are saved as PNG by default, so this is a quick way to make them lighter before you email them.

iPhone and Android

You don’t need an app. Open the page in Safari or Chrome, tap the box and pick the PNG images from Photos, the gallery or Files. The JPG files go to your Downloads or Files app. Phones are slower than computers, but 30 screenshots still take only moments.

Batch conversion, file names and Copy summary

You can convert up to 30 PNG files at once. Add files by dropping, choosing or pasting, use Add more for extra ones and Clear to start again. Every row shows a thumbnail, the size before and after and the pixel size. With two or more results, Download all (ZIP) saves everything in one file. Copy summary copies the list of names and sizes, which is handy if you need to report them or check them later. Under More options, Copy link with these settings gives you a link that opens the tool with the same output and quality next time.

How accurate is the PNG to JPG converter?

The pixel size is exact: the JPG has the same width and height as the PNG. The colours are as close as JPEG allows at the chosen quality. A few limits are worth knowing:

  • File size can’t be predicted exactly. It depends on how detailed the picture is. Our numbers come from one test image; a noisy night photo shrinks less, a plain screenshot more.
  • Transparency is gone. We measured a converted transparent logo: the empty corners were pure white (255, 255, 255). Semi-transparent edges are mixed with white, so a logo with a soft shadow gets a light halo if you later place it on a dark background.
  • Hidden data is not copied. The JPG is a fresh file made from the pixels, so text notes and other extra data stored inside the PNG are left out.
  • Animated PNG files become one still image of the first frame.
  • Very large images (for example a 10000 px wide scan) need a lot of memory and may fail on older phones; a computer handles them better.

Why this tool is different

Most online PNG to JPG converters upload your images to a server, convert them there and send them back. This one works inside your browser. The PNG is read from your device, drawn onto a canvas in memory and saved as JPG with the browser’s own encoder. Nothing travels over the internet, so there is no upload wait, no queue and no copy of your screenshot on anybody’s server. That matters when the screenshot shows a bank page, an ID card, a payment or a private chat. Once the page has loaded, the conversion itself works without a connection.

The second difference is that we tell you exactly what happens. The tool always paints a white background first, so transparency never turns black. It keeps the pixel size instead of quietly shrinking big images. It shows the size before and after for every file, so you can see when conversion is pointless (like the logo that grew from 4.5 KB to 17.3 KB) and keep the PNG instead.

What we measure

For each file the tool reads its size in bytes and its width and height, converts it, then shows the new size and pixel size. That is all it measures. 1 KB on this page and in the tool means 1000 bytes. What we do not do: we don’t score visual quality, we don’t pick the quality for you (the converter uses the number on the slider), we don’t remove backgrounds, sharpen, crop or resize, and we don’t collect anything about your images.

Frequently asked questions

How to convert PNG to JPG?

Drop your PNG files into the box at the top of this page. JPG is already chosen, so each file is converted straight away; click Download or Download all (ZIP).

How to change PNG file to JPG on Windows?

Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on Windows and drag the PNG files from File Explorer into the box. You don’t need Paint or any other program.

Can I convert PNG to JPG in high quality?

Yes. The default is 92%, which looks the same as the PNG for photos. For the highest quality open More options and set the slider to 100%; the file gets bigger.

Does PNG to JPG change the pixel size?

No. The converter keeps the exact width and height, so a 4K screenshot stays 4K. Use the image resizer if you need fewer pixels.

What happens to a transparent PNG when converted to JPG?

The transparent parts become white, because JPG has no transparency. Keep PNG, or choose WebP under More options, if you need a see-through background.

Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?

Simple graphics with a few flat colours are stored very efficiently as PNG. In our test a 4.5 KB PNG logo became a 17.3 KB JPG, so keep such images as PNG.

How do I convert PNG to JPG under 50 KB?

Convert here first, then use the image compressor with the 50 KB button. The compressor picks the highest quality that fits under the limit.

Is this PNG to JPG converter free with no watermark?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and never adds a watermark or logo to your images.
